Tires, Mounted and Balanced Right
The right tire for your vehicle and the way you drive, professionally mounted, balanced and checked by our ASE-certified technicians on Pond Springs Rd.
New Tires Matched to Your Vehicle
Tires are the only part of your vehicle that touches the road, so the right choice matters as much as the brand name on the sidewall. RoKr Auto sells new passenger, SUV and light truck tires, and we start by matching the basics your vehicle requires: the correct size, load index and speed rating from your door placard and owner's manual. From there we help you narrow the choice based on how you actually drive. A commuter running US-183 and Parmer Ln every day, a family that tows on weekends, and a driver who wants a quieter highway ride are not looking for the same tire. We source tires through our supplier, NTW, with brands including Michelin, BFGoodrich, Pirelli, Hankook, Cooper, Toyo, Nitto, Uniroyal, Sumitomo and Nexen. We order your tires from our supplier's local warehouse rather than keeping stock on hand, so they typically arrive the next day, and you get the exact tire you chose rather than whatever happens to be on the shelf. We'll explain the trade-offs between tread life, wet traction, ride comfort and price in plain terms, so you can pick the tire that fits your budget and your driving. Central Texas summers are hard on rubber, and heat accelerates tire aging even on tires with plenty of tread left, so we'll also tell you honestly if your current set has more life in it than you expected.
Mounting, Balancing & TPMS Sensor Service
A quality tire only performs as well as it is installed. When we mount and balance new tires, we inspect each wheel and tire, inflate to the pressure specified for your vehicle, and balance every wheel and tire assembly so it rolls smoothly at highway speed. An out-of-balance wheel causes vibration in the steering wheel or seat, uneven tread wear and extra stress on wheel bearings and suspension parts, so balancing is part of every installation, not an add-on. Lug nuts are torqued to your vehicle's factory specifications, which protects your wheels, studs and brake rotors. We also service tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS). Most vehicles built since 2008 have a pressure sensor inside each wheel, and those sensors run on sealed batteries that eventually wear out. If your tire pressure light stays on or flashes even with correctly inflated tires, a sensor may need replacement. We diagnose and replace TPMS sensors and complete any reset your vehicle requires, so the warning system works the way it was designed to. Tire rotation is also available as a separate service to help a set wear evenly over its life.
When It's Time for New Tires
Most drivers replace tires either too early or far too late. Tread depth is the first check: Texas law sets the minimum at 2/32 of an inch, but wet-road braking and resistance to hydroplaning drop off well before that, which matters during a Central Texas downpour on Anderson Mill Rd or US-183. Built-in tread wear bars that sit flush with the tread are a clear sign a tire is done. Age matters too. Rubber compounds harden and crack over time, and Texas heat speeds that up, so a tire can be unsafe while still showing usable tread. Look for cracking in the sidewall or between tread blocks, bulges, or exposed cords, and have any of those checked promptly. Uneven wear tells its own story. Wear on one edge usually points to an alignment problem, cupped or scalloped wear often points to worn shocks or struts, and wear down the center or on both edges suggests incorrect inflation. Installing new tires without correcting the cause shortens their life, which is why we look at how your old set wore and recommend a wheel alignment with new tires, or suspension and steering service when worn components are what caused the wear. We'll show you what we find and give you a written estimate before any work begins, backed by our 3-year/36,000-mile nationwide warranty on repairs.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I need new tires?
Check tread depth first. Texas requires at least 2/32 of an inch, but wet traction drops off well before that point. Also look for tread wear bars sitting flush with the tread, cracking in the sidewall, bulges, or exposed cords. Tires also age with time and heat, so even a tire with tread left may need replacing. If you're unsure, we'll measure your tread and show you what we find.
Do I need a wheel alignment when I get new tires?
We recommend it. Misalignment is one of the most common causes of uneven tire wear, and new tires installed on a vehicle that is out of alignment can wear unevenly from the start. An alignment at installation protects your new tires and gives you a baseline. The wear pattern on your old tires often shows whether alignment is already off.
Why is my tire pressure light on?
A steady light usually means one or more tires are below the recommended pressure. Cold mornings commonly trigger it because air pressure drops as temperature falls. Check all four tires with a gauge and inflate them to the pressure on your driver's door placard. If the light flashes and then stays on, or stays on with correctly inflated tires, a TPMS sensor or the system itself likely needs service, which we can diagnose and repair.
What tire brands can you get?
We source tires through our supplier, NTW, with brands including Michelin, BFGoodrich, Pirelli, Hankook, Cooper, Toyo, Nitto, Uniroyal, Sumitomo and Nexen. We'll recommend options that fit your vehicle, driving habits and budget, and explain the differences between them.
Do you have tires in stock?
We don't keep tires in stock at the shop. We order the tires you choose from our supplier's local warehouse, and they typically arrive the next day — though not always same-day. Call or book online and we'll confirm availability and timing for your size before you come in.
Do you offer road-hazard warranties on tires?
No, we don't sell road-hazard coverage. Our 3-year/36,000-mile nationwide warranty covers parts and labor on qualifying repairs, but it doesn't cover road damage to a tire such as a puncture or sidewall impact. We'd rather tell you that before you buy than surprise you later.
Do I have to replace all four tires at once?
Not always. Replacing tires in pairs is often fine on two-wheel-drive vehicles, as long as the new pair goes where the manufacturer recommends. Many all-wheel-drive vehicles are more sensitive, because large differences in tread depth between tires can strain the drivetrain, so manufacturers often call for replacing all four or matching tread depth closely. We'll check your vehicle's requirements and your existing tread before recommending anything.
